Abstract:
In order to know genetic diversity of some captive populations and provide useful information for conservation and management of Luchuan pig, 564 bp fragment at the 5'-end of the mitochondrial DNA control region were assessed for 74 individuals from six captive populations in present study. Twenty variable sites and 7 haplotypes were observed in 74 individuals, and the haplotype and nucleotide diversities (h=0.530 and 仔=0.00326) were relatively low compared with those of other captived mammals. In the six investigated populations, the Fumian population had the highest nucleotide diversity and haplotype diversity, the Wushi population had the lowest. The overall mean intra-population genetic distance of the Fumian population was larger than that of the other five populations. The phylogenetic tree of Luchuan pig and other 21 species showed that the Luchuan pig shared a closer genetic relationship with Ningxiang pig and Dahuabai pig than Xiang pig and Diannanxiaoer pig.
