The objective of the present study was to validate the effect of bull seminal plasma or bull semen special extender for freezing on boar semen cryopreservation. Bull seminal plasma (0, 2.50%, 5.00% and 10.00%) were added to the boar semen diluents (glucose1.10%, citric acid 1.48%,Tris 2.42%,NAC 0.02%, egg yolk 20.00%, glycerol 6.00%, penicillin 0.06%, streptomycin 0.10%) or modified boar semen special extender for freezing (containing 0.10 mmol/L tacrine), bull semen special extender for freezing and modified bull semen special extender for freezing (containing 0.10 mmol/L tacrine) were used. The results showed that: (1) under the conditions of
this experiment no improvement on the quality of frozen -thawed boar spermatozoa was observed while bull seminal plasma was supplemented in diluents; (2)The quality of spermatozoa frozen in modified bull semen diluents was similar to those frozen in modified boar semen diluents (both supplemented with tacrine), and superior to those frozen in unmodified bull semen diluents (without tacrine). |
