Abstract:
For the purpose of providing preliminary results about effect of low boron and high boron levels on four individuals of Vitis heyneana, the growth characteristics of wild V. heyneana seedlings in tissue culture conditions was studied under 5 boron levels (0,1.1, 3, 6 and 9 mg/L) . The results showed that high or low boron stresses all affected the growth of V. heyneana seedling, low boron levels in the medium significantly decreased the plant height of the V. heyneana, conversely , the root growth wasn爷t effect. No significant changes in total root length, average root diameter, total root surface-area and total root volume. Huaxi-4 was the most tolerant to low boron stress. The plant height was inhibited by high levels boron. The inhibited effect was more and more obvious with increased concentration of boron. The root growth of three individuals (Huaxi-4, Huaxi-9 and Nongyuan-11) was accelerated with the boron in concentration of 3~6 mg/L, but the root growth was inhibited obviously when the boron level was up to 9 mg/L. The root growth of Fuquan-1 was the most sensitive to high boron stress. Total root length, average root diameter, total root surface-area and total root volume under three high boron stress all decreased. Along with the higher boron concentration, the inhibitor effect was more obvious. According these results, the Huaxi-4 was more tolerant to the low boron stress. On the contrary, the Fuquan-1 was the most sensitive to the high boron stress.
