Abstract: |
The indexes, including the shape and pattern of anticlinal walls, stomata density, stomata area, stomata index, were
examined through light microscopy in 6 varieties of Codiaeum variegatum. The results showed that the epidermal cells were polygonal to irregular, with the anticlinal walls archedor, repand, sinuous. The largest stomatal density was C. variegatum var. pictum forma Aucubifolium, for 209.18/mm2, and the smallest was C. variegatum var. pictum forma excellent, for 127.80/mm2. Stomatal index was in the ranges of 20.36%~30.23%. Among stomatal areas, the largest reached 1 757.86 μm2, and the smallest was 1 119.35 μm2. Correlation analysis on leaf stomata characteristics showed that there were significantly negative correlations between stomata length or width and stomatal density, stomatal index, but an extremely positive correlation is observed in the stomatal area. The indicators in 6 cultivars of Codiaeum variegatum all reflected genetic diversity in the evolution. |
