Abstract:
Urban green space is a very important part of urban ecosystem, usually called as urban “lung”, and plays key role for maintaining high quality urban environment. Through the functions of its supporting plants and microorganisms and itself, the soil of urban green space can beautify and clean urban environment, and has great significance for urban sustainability. Soil samples with 0~30 cm and 30~60 cm depths of Shenzhen Children’s Park were collected, soil bulk density, porosity, particle size distribution, CEC, pH, EC, organic matter, N, P, K,catalase and urease activities were studied in this paper. The results indicated that the soil texture type was loamy, gravel content in soil was high. Surface soil (0~30 cm) had a high bulk density and low porosity. The soil pH values were distinctly high as compared with natural soils in this area, and were slightly acid or neutral. The average of CEC was less than 10.0 cmol/kg and soil has a low nutrient-keeping capacity. Soil organic matter was low or very low; soil N and P were serious deficiency; soil K was medium or over medium status. Soil enzyme activities were very low, and have significant correlations with clay, organic matter, N and K contents.According soil quality situation of urban green space in Shenzhen Children’s Paradise Park, some measures and suggestions including improving soil aeration, applying more organic manures, applying chemical fertilizers rationally and monitoring soil fertility quality were put forward for soil scientific management.
