Abstract:
Under the condition of saline-alkali land, effects of salt-alkali stress on biomass production and quality of switchgrass (Panicum virgatum) were studied. The results showed that, the survival rate, plant height, tiller number per plant and biomass yield of switchgrass significantly reduced with the magnitude of salinity-alkalinity stress increasing, and there was no significant difference in overwintering rate. Switchgrass plant grew better in mild and moderate saline-alkali land, the survival rate was more than 85%, the overwintering rate was more than 96%, and it achieved the highest biomass yield of 14.3 t/hm2 in the third year. With saline-alkali stress, ash content and lignin content of switchgrass biomass increased, calorific value, cellulose and hemicelluloses content of switchgrass biomass decreased, which reduced fuel quality of switchgrass biomass in a certain extent.
