Abstract:
      Eggplant is one of the main vegetables supplied to the market of north China which planted in Hainan province during winter. The long red purple eggplant is the main cultivated varieties. Introducing and screening for long purplish black eggplant cultivars will increase the varieties of eggplant transported to north China. In this research, the phenological phases, economics traits, yield and diseases resistances of 8 long purplish black eggplant varieties were investigated. The results showed that the harvest period of tested varieties were 57~60 days,all were late-maturing varieties. Purple dragon 6, Purple dragon 8 and Black crown eggplant showed small differences in thickness, evenly colored and shiny with good commodity, fruit length were 41.5 cm, 39.4 cm and 36.4 cm respectively. The yield of Black crown eggplant was the highest (38 218.0 kg/hm2), Purple dragon 6 and Purple dragon 8 also had a high level yield. Those three varieties are suitable for cultivation and extension in Hainan province.
