Abstract:
      The energetic ecological footprint theory was applied to evaluate and analyse the status of sustainable development of Guangxi from 2004 to 2010. The results were as follows: the ecological footprint of Guangxi from 2004 to 2010 has grown from 3.5830 hm2/cap to 4.2511 hm2/cap, and the ecological carring capacity has grown from 2.2715 hm2/cap to 2.5873 hm2/cap. The growth range of the ecological carring capacity was far less than the ecological footprint, it leaded to ecological deficit and its growth from 1.3115 hm2/cap to 1.8743 hm2/cap. And the rapid growth of the energy consumption and especially the coal consumption was the main reason of the rapid growth of the ecological deficit. The resource utilization efficiency of Guangxi has grown in past seven years, but it was lower than other provinces and cities of China. This results showed it was not sustainable for social and economic development of Guangxi. Finally, the suggestions for sustainable development of Guangxi were proposed through analysising the influencing factors of ecological footprint and ecological deficit.
