In order to understand the plankton community structure and diversity in Guijang river, water samples were
collected from eight sections, and were subjected to qualitative and quantitative determination of plankton. A total of 7
phyla and 57 species of phytoplankton were identified. According to the study, the dominant phylum of phytoplankton was
Bacillariophyta, which had 23 species, accounting for 26.32% of the total phytoplankton species, the average density and
biomass of phytoplankton were 4.19104 cells/L and 0.11 mg/L, the average Shannon -Weiner diversity index, Pielou
uniformity index and Margalef richness index were 1.25, 0.65 and 1.67. Four phyla and 33 species of zooplankton were
identified, the dominant phyla of zooplankton were Protozoa and Cladocera, each with 12 species, accounting for 46.3% of
the total zooplankton species, the average density and biomass of zooplankton were 25.5 cells/L and 0.65 mg/L, the average
Shannon-Weiner diversity index and Pielou uniformity index were 1.13 and 0.81. The research indicated that at this stage,
the plankton diversity and abundance of Guijiang river was high. However, at the relatively dense residential areas along
the coast, and the section of the river with frequent human activities, the plankton diversity and abundance was low. |
