The population quantity of Panonychus citri Me Gregor in different position of shatangju tangerine, sweet
orange, shatian pomelo and bergamot was investigated in field, and the fencundity of it on the four host plants was
compared in laboratory. The result showed that the population quantity on apical leaves of the four host plants was more
than those on middle and basal leaves. There was no significant difference between the average number of P. citri Me
Gregor in shatangju tangerine and bergamot (12.02/leaf and 12.07/leaf, respectively), and the numbers of spider mite in
sweet orange and shatian pomelo were significantly lower, which in shatian pomelo was the least (only 4.69/leaf). There was
no significant difference among the average egg quantity of P. citri Me Gregor on the four host plants from one to three
generations, and the average number of eggs laid per female spider mite in one day was 3 to 7 particles. The spider mite
feeding on four host plants had different duration (5 to 8 days ) and hatchability (90% to 98%) of egg. |
