Abstract:
The aim of this study was to discuss the allelopathic effect of aqueous leaf extract from Eupatoriumadenophorum on the seed germination of celery and Chinese cabbage. The results showed that aqueous leaf extract from E.adenophorum had different allelopathic inhibition on the seed germination and seedling growth of the two tested plants to different extent. Furthermore, this inhibition degree increased with the increasing of concentration of aqueous extract, butlow concentration (0.5%) aqueous extract had no obvious allelopathic inhibition effect on celery. The seed germination and seed germination speed of celery and Chinese cabbage decreased with the increasing of concentration of aqueous extract, and seed germination speed was more sensitive to the extract than seed germination rate, which might be the most sensitive index to judge allelopathy. High concentration (2.5%) of aqueous extract had strong inhibition on the seedling growth of celery and Chinese cabbage of which the inhibition ratio reached more than 80%. The content of MDA of celery and Chinese cabbage increased as the increasing of concentration of aqueous extract which had significantly linear positive correlation with the concentration of aqueous extract “P<0.001”, respectively. What爷s more, the allelopathy of aqueous leaf extract was confirmed and the allelopathic inhibition of cabbage was stronger than that of celery under the same concentration of aqueous extract.
