Abstract:
To understand the underlying genetic architecture and identify candidate genes associated with productiontraits in swine, we conducted this genome-wide association study (GWAS). A population of 191 Duroc pigs was genotyped using the Illumina Porcine SNP60BeadChip and phenotyped on three production traits, including days to 100 kg(D100),ackfat thickness (BFT) and loin muscle area (LMA). The GWAS were performed with a single marker regression procedure using the GenABEL package in R software. In D100 and LMA, we identified one genome-wide and six chromosomes-wide significant single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs), and all SNPs were located in chromosome 5. No significant SNP detected for BFT. Bioinformatics analysis suggestes that BTG1 and EFCAB6 might be candidate genes affecting these production traits, but their functions are yet to be confirmed
