Abstract: |
In order to provide references for large-scale promotion of the new and fine tetraploid watermelon variety Xingui 6, effects of different rootstocks grafting on growth, yield and quality of Xingui 6 were studied. Seven rootstocks were grafted with Xingui 6 in field cultivation experiments. The results showed that grafting survival rate of the seven grafting combinations was 78.95%-96.30%. Their growth vigor was stronger than that of seedlings. The top three strongest in order was Cucurbita moschata, Chaofeng F1 and Lagenaria sciceraria. Wilt incidence was dropped by 57.14%-92.86% compared with the control and yield increased by 18.13%-55.13% compared with the control. Regarding flesh color, fruit quality and taste, there was no significant difference between the grafted plants and seedlings. Total soluble solid content in fruit center reduced at varying degrees and the pericarp became thicker. The screened rootstocks were Guangxi local cucurbit, Chaofeng F1 and hybrid gourd, because they effectively prevented wilt and remarkably promoted watermelon growth and yield. |
