Abstract:
In order to understand the effects of Se application on Cd toxicity in barley, a hydroponic experiment was carried out using barley genotype Golden Promise, to evaluate the mitigative effect of exogenous Se against Cd-induced oxidative stress, barley growth inhibition, Cd and other nutrients uptake and photosynthetic parameters damage. Addition of3 滋mol/L Se in 50 滋mol/L Cd culture medium significantly alleviated Cd-induced growth inhibition, increased the plantheight, root length, dry weight and SPAD value, Cd induced photosynthetic parameters decreases were also alleviated by Seapplication, and meanwhile, exogenous Se dramatically depressed SOD, POD and CAT activities, and MDA accumulationcompared with 50 μmol/L Cd treatment, meliorated Cd -induced toxicity to barley seedings. Therefore, exogenous Seapplication could alleviate Cd toxicity in barley.
