Abstract: |
EMS (Ethylmethylsulfone) mutagenesis was used to generate a mutant library of elite indica caltivar Huanghuazhan. 317 independent male sterile mutants controlled by single receive genes were obtained. These mutants were roughly divided into 6 groups based on examination of floral organ morphology and pollen staining. Defects were found at EMS (Ethylmethylsulfone) mutagenesis was used to generate a mutant library of elite indica caltivar Huanghuazhan. 317 independent male sterile mutants controlled by single receive genes were obtained. These mutants were roughly divided into 6 groups based on examination of floral organ morphology and pollen staining. Defects were found at various developmental stages of pollen development in these mutants. These male sterile mutants lay the foundation for further study of molecular mechanisms governing male fertility and also provide ample materials for rice molecular design breeding. 98 no-pollen mutants were sequenced for TDR, an important gene for rice pollen development, which revealed3 different mutations in three mutant plants. |
