Plants of the genus Rhododendron L. are not only the important composition of vegetation and community, but also important ornamental resources. Artificial propagation, introduction and cultivation play important role in both of the species’germplasm conservation, exploitation and utilization. This review analyzed the artificial propagation technology of the genus Rhododendron L. in terms of seed propagation, in vitro and cutting propagation. Furthermore, the current introduction cultivation status at home and abroad, and seedling adaption of Rhododendron L. was also analyzed. A future direction of research on the germplasm conservation, resource exploitation and utilization was put forward, like strengthening resources background investigation and value assessment, wild resources protection, artificial propagation and scientifical studies to promote industrialization and germplasm innovation. |
