Abstract:
In order to study the correlation between the SNPs of STAM1 gene and growth traits in Guizhou local cattle,a total of 106 Weining cattle were used in this study, moreover, PCR-SSCP and DNA sequencing methods were used to analyze the association between SNP and specific growth traits. Results showed that there was only one SNP site existed in the third intron region of STAM1 gene which named G+31122A, furthermore, various genotypes existed in different animals for the SNP of G+31122A. For the male cattle populations, G+31122A had highly significant effects on chest circumference and hucklebone width (P<0.01), the individuals with homozygote genotype AA had significantly lower mean value than those with GA and GG genotypes. Additionally, for the female cattle populations, G+31122A had significant effect on long body straight (P<0.05) and the mean values of GG genotype animals were higher than those of AA genotype individuals. It indicated that G+31122A has directly correlation with the growth performance of Weining cattle.
