Abstract:
The effects of different concentrations of silicon on seedlings height, root length, biomass and some physiological indices of wheat under hydroponics culture was studied. Tongzhou wheat 916 and Luomai 21as materials. The results showed that silicon could promote the growth and biomass accumulation of Tongzhou wheat 916, low concentrations of silicon improved the biomass of Luomai 21, but high concentrations of silicon showed inhibition. With the increase of silicon concentration, soluble sugar content increased in Tongzhou wheat 916, while it decreased in Luomai 21. Silicon could improve the chlorophyll content, but reduce the accumulation of soluble protein of Tongzhou wheat 916, whereas it had the opposite effect on Luomai 21. Data also showed that under three treatments, the soluble sugar content of Luomai 21 increased at first then decreased with the treatment time increasing, nevertheless seedling height, root length, biomass and chlorophyll content were prolonged; all the indicators of Tongzhou wheat 916 under the three treatments raised with the seedling growing. The result indicated that different wheat varieties had different adaptation to silicon concentration, and 10 mg/L silicon had promoying effect on ureat growth.
