Abstract:
In order to compare the slope stability of different bermudagrass resources, the root distribution characteristics and tensile strength of different bermudagrass varieties were studied. The results showed the roots of bermudagrass were concentrated in the 0-10 cm soil layer. The root length density and root weight density decreased with soil depth increasing. C2 was better than C1 and C3 in root length density and root weight density. The root diameters of these bermudagrass were less than 1.0 mm and C2 had the biggest value of effective root density. The root tensile strength decreased with root diameter increasing. The biggest root tensile strength was existed in the roots diameter less than 0.4 mm which showed the slope stability of fine roots were better than that of coarse roots. The root tensile strength of C2 was the best in these three bermudagrass. After preliminary screening, C2 is more suitable for slope protection than C1 and C3.
