Effects of cadmium(Cd) stress on seed germination and antioxidant enzymes of Medicago sativa L., Trifolium repens L. and Tagetes patula L. seedings were investigated by the hydroponic method. The results showed that proper concentration of Cd promoted the seed germination of three herbaceous plants. Compared with the control, high concentration of Cd had obvious inhibitory effect on root length and seedling length, the inhibition on root length was more significant than that on seedling length. Under different concentration of Cd, the antioxidant enzyme activities of three herbaceous plants showed different physiological responses to reduce injuries caused by Cd stress. In a word, the seeds of three herbaceous plants had tolerance to Cd stress in some degree and could be used to detect the effects of cadmium accumulation and physiological resistance of plants under Cd stress through pot experiments. |
