Abstract:
      In order to study the biological function of endothelial differentiation gene 4 (EDG4), polymorphisms in exon 2 of EDG4 gene in 7 pig breeds were studied by PCR-RFLP method. The results showed that TT, TC and CC genotypes of EDG4 were detected only in Lulai and Yorkshire pigs, TC and CC genotypes of EDG4 were found in Laiwu, Licha, Yimeng and Duroc pigs, and CC genotype were assayed in Landrace pigs. Allele C and genotype CC were dominant in all 7 breeds. A chi-square results indicated that the distributions in Licha, Laiwu, Yimeng, Lulai, Landrace and Duroc pigs were in Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium (P>0.05). Distributions of TT, TC and CC genotypes were significantly in 7 populations (P<0.01). Population genetic character results showed that effective number of alleles ranged from 1.000 to 1.5127. Polymorphism information content(PIC) was between 0.0000 and 0.2815; The PIC of Lulai pigs was more than 0.25,being moderate polymorphic locus. The PICs of other breeds were low than 0.25, being low polymorphic.
