A total of 164 Bacillus -like bacterial strains were isolated from Jianfengling tropical rain forest soilthrough heat-shock treatment. The genetic diversity of the 164 isolates was analyzed by 16S rDNA PCR-RFLP andsequence analysis. At the level of 100% similarity, cluster analysis of UPGMA map and 16S rDNA PCR -RFLPmacrorestriction map showed that the isolates were grouped into 23 clusters, which suggested high genetic diversity. 16SrDNA sequence analysis of representative strains of 23 clusters indicated that there were five genera, Bacillus (52%),Paenibacillus (36%), Lysinibacillus (4%), Brevibacillus (4%) and Psychrobacillus (4%), in which Bacillus was the dominantgroup. The highest similarities of six strains with the corresponding type strains ranged from 98.3% to 99.0%, whichsuggested that they might be potential new bacterial species. |
