Abstract:
      The present study was conducted to select some new high quality varieties of yam with betteragronomictraits and suitability for planting in Guangxi and surrounding areas. A comparative analysis on somebotanical yield,resistance and quality of five yam varieties was performed by using yam variety Guihuai2 as control.The results showed that the average yields of GY23,GY26,GY92 were very significantly higher than that of thecontrol group,respectively increased by 67.72%,70.73% and 34.40%,but there was no significant difference in yieldamong control and GY44,GY91. GY23 had the highest iron amount. GY23,GY26,GY91 showed highly resistance tochilling and diseases. So the strain GY23,GY26 and GY92 which performed better in growth vigor,yield,resistanceand quality were appropriate for planting and may be conducted regional trials and extended for demonstration andcommercial production in Guangxi and surrounding areas.
