Abstract: |
Giant freshwater prawn(Macrobrachium rosenbergii)is one of the most important crustacean species
mainly cultured in Asia. In China, the production of this prawn reaches more than one half of world’s total output.
Generally, freshwater prawn is considered to be moderately disease-resistant, however in recent years, due to many
factors such as overcrowding and deterioration of water environment, diseases break frequently. White tail disease
(WTD)is one of the main diseases causing high mortality in larvae. This article reviewed the research progress of
WTD, including pathogenic characteristics, transmission, detection and control measures. |
