Abstract: |
With a profound and long developing history, China’ s waterfowl industry is an essential component for
agricultural and animal husbandry economy. From the perspective of national resource endowments and international
resource utilization, this paper analyzed the effects of five factors on China’ s waterfowl industry development and production
policies. The five factors were the status quo and characteristics of China’ s waterfowl industry development, the domestic
resource endowments and advantages, the foreign waterfowl production, the international trade of waterfowl products and the
introduction of foreign variety resources. Results showed that to further improve the development of China’ s waterfowl industry,
there should be a better utilization of domestic resource endowments to lead the new trend of waterfowl industry development;
regarding international leading level, the competitiveness of China’ s waterfowl industry should be further improved; better
protection of China’ s germplasm resources and national interests should be promoted to cope with the dominance of foreign
variety resources. Therefore, the principles for industrial distribution were proposed in this paper for a more scientific and
reasonable location of industrial development. Besides, the structure of waterfowl industrial organization should be further
optimized to prevent the tendency of industrial monopoly. Also, to advance market-oriented technology research and
improve extension services were of particular importance for industrial development. Some other suggestions were proposed that
waterfowl industry should transform towards low-carbon
and environment friendly direction with further promotion of
ecological waterfowl farming; industrial information network
should be constructed with a better electronic platform; with
more policy support, the sustainable and healthy development
of China ’ s waterfowl industry could be achieved. |
