| Influences of CCFL supplemental lighting on seedgermination and seedling growth of okra |

| Abstract: |
| The infulences of light quality on the seed germination and seedling growth of okra were investigated
by applying different treatment combinations of wavelength and strength to the seeds and seedlings of okra. The results
showed that，the wavelength and strength of lighting had great impact on the seed germination of okra，the best effect of
seed germination was revealed in the combination of 60 W red light and 20 W purple light. Compared with the control
group，the treatment combination of 60 W red light and 20 W blue and white light could increase the height，the number
of leaves，the leaf size，the dry weight and fresh weight signifcantly. Meanwhile，the combination of 60 W red light and
20 W purple light increased the stem diametre，and the combination of 60 W red light and 20 W blue and white light
increased chlorophyll content effectively. For obtaining a better effect of okra seedling growth，the combined treatment of
red light and bule light should be undertaken at night. |
