Abstract: |
To investigate the effects of partial substitution of concentrate with wild buckwheat on growth, slaughter performance and meat quality in Congjiangxiang pigs,40 Congjiang Xiang pigs were selected and randomly divided into three experimental groups( each n=10) and one control group with bodyweight of approximately 20 kg.The pigs in control group were fed on concentrate. In the other three treatments, concentrate was substituted with fresh wild buckwheat at 10%-30% at the early fattening stage and 20%-40% at the late fattening stage. The results showed that the partial substitution of concentrate with wild buckwheat significantly decreased the average daily gain( ADG)of Congjiangxiang pigs, and slowed their growth rate. The backfat thickness and body fat percentage significantly decreased, and the lean meat percentage increased( P<0.05). The substitution of wild buckwheat resulted in high
cooking percentage( P<0.05) and crude protein( P<0.05) of longissimus dorsi muscle. These results indicated that the substitution of concentrate with wild buckwheat slowed the growth rate and improved the carcass quality and meat quality of Congjiang Xiang pigs, and the proportion around 20% at the early fattening stage and 30% at the late fattening stage could get better performance. |
