Abstract:
      A 841bp sequence of MaPIP1-2 promoter was isolated from banana( Musa acuminat L. AAA group cv. Brazilian) through chromosome walking PCR. PLACE analysis indicated that MaPIP1-2 promoter contatined abiotic stress-responsive elements,such as drought-responsive elements and salt-related cis-elements. To investigate the function of the promoter,the plant expression vector with MaPIP1-2 promoter was successfully constructed and transformed into Arabidopsis thaliana. In MaPIP1-2::GUS-expressing Arabidopsis,the activity of MaPIP1-2 promoter was found to be associated with the drought and salt treatment. The activity of MaPIP1-2 promoter was enhanced with the increasing concentration of salt and mannitol.
