Abstract:
      Five frangipanies were prepared to analyze the content of ascorbic acid and changes of physiological parameters in their leaves and petals. The main purpose was to provide data basis for breeding the high quality of frangipani variety that is suitable for local environments. The results showed that contents of ascorbic acid, chlorophyll,carotenoid,malonaldehyde,flavonoid,oligomeric proantho cyanidins as well as the activities of POD and SOD enzymes in the leaves and petals of different frangipani varieties were observed. It was indicated the variety specificity of the antioxidants involved in the scavenging of reactive oxidants in different frangipanies. On the other hand,the higher content of flavonoid in the petals than the leaves was observed,suggesting the important role of flavonoid as antioxidant in the flower organ of frangipani.
