Abstract: |
Field experiment in Litchi( Litchi chinensis Sonn.) was conducted to investigate the effect of girdling
on nutrient and endogenic hormone status in the leaf and flower of Feizixiao Litchi. Further, fruit yield, quality
and flavor as affected by girdling was examined as well. The results showed that girdling in the winter considerably
decreased foliar N,P,Ca,Mg,B content and increased foliar Mo content, but did not affect foliar K content. As
compared to the control, nitrate, ammonium and K contents in the spica were significantly enhanced by girdling,
but Ca,Mg and Mo content were significantly decreased, whereas N,P and B content remained relatively similar.
The nutrient reduction in the leaf and spica by girdling contributed to the considerably decreased amount of flower
in Feizixiao while in blossom. Foliar ABA,IAA,GA3 and ZR content were improved, while ABA and IAA content
in the spica were reduced and GA3 and ZR were increased by girdling, which were beneficial to improve fruit set
and lessen fruit drop. Finally, girdling increased the fruit yield and production value by 57.9% and 260.3%,
respectively. The fruit quality and flavor were not obviously influenced by girdling, but the fruit fragrance might be
altered. |
