Abstract: |
Increasing the forestry carbon sequestration is the important ways to deal with climate change
issues for China. Farmers are the provider of production factors during the carbon sequestration forest management.
Therefore, farmers' participation in carbon sequestration forest management is the key to increasing the supply of
carbon sequestration forests. Based on the farmer's behavior theory,it introduces property rights theory to analyze
the farmers' willingness to participate in carbon sequestration forest management. According to the questionnaires of
116 households in Meizhou City,Heyuan City and Shanwei City, the binary logistic model was used to analyze the
farmers' willingness to participate in carbon sequestration forest management and its influencing factors. The results
showed that the willingness of the interviewed farmers to participate in the carbon sequestration forests was 68.10%.
Four factors such as the farmers' years of education, the distance of forestland from home, whether there are forest
ownership certificates, and the awareness of carbon sequestration forest management are closely related to farmers’
willingness to participate in carbon sequestration forest management. Among them, farmers with forest ownership
certificates are 75% more willing to participate in carbon sink forest management than those without forest ownership
certificates. So it proposes to combine the achievements of the forest tenure reform to improve farmers’ willingness to
participate in carbon sequestration forest management. |
