| As a bioreactor, transgenic plants and animals have a complete eukaryotic expression system, which can provide correct post-translational modifications for a variety of exogenous proteins, express biologically active foreign proteins, and can be used for treatment and prevention of diseases in humans or animals. Because of its low cost, high output, precious products and a huge demand, it has broad business prospects.At present, a number of achievements and breakthroughs have been made in the research field of transgenic animal and plant as bioreactors. The protein products produced by this are also approved by the authorities for listing and application, and many unlisted research results are already in the clinical trial stage for industrialization development. Animal and plant bioreactors have become a new trend in the production of recombinant pharmaceutical proteins. This paper reviews the production of recombinant proteins by transgenic plants and transgenic animals as bioreactors, including their types, the types of proteins produced, the approved animal and plant bioreactors. The significance and problems of producing foreign proteins were discussed. Finally, the application prospects of transgenic animal and plant bioreactors are prospected. |
