From the economic, ecological and social contributions of urban agriculture to the urban and rural integration development, this paper analyzes the demand of urban agriculture for the urban and rural integration development in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area(hereinafter called the Greater Bay Area): first, expand urban space and protect and utilize land for agricultural production in the Greater Bay Area; second, optimize the allocation of urban and rural elements in the Greater Bay Area; third, the Greater Bay Area will be built into a high-quality first-class bay area; fourth, the Greater Bay Area will be constructed as a model of integrated urban and rural development. These demands require new ideas and solutions from urban agriculture. On this basis, six principles of urban agriculture development in the Greater Bay area are put forward: flexibility and diversity, cooperation and sharing, moderate scale, long-term strategy, technology utilization, resource recycling. And six policy recommendations are proposed: first, change the idea and fully understand the functions and significance of urban agriculture; second, define the direction of development and develop urban agriculture in accordance with local conditions; third, formulate policies and regulations to determine the legal status of urban agriculture; fourth, strengthen the guidance of public opinion and attract the public to participate in and support urban agriculture; fifth, strengthen the construction of farmland suitable for mechanization and increase the input in urban agricultural facilities, equipment and management; sixth, strengthen the study of urban agriculture theory models, policies and regulations. |
