Abstract:
Phytophthora blight is a very important disease in vegetable production. The vegetables of solanaceous, cucurbitaceae, and taro are seriously affected. The disease can occur in all parts of the vegetables during the whole growth period, and young stems and tender fruits suffer the most. Phytophthora blight is caused by an oomycete and it is difficult to be controlled with chemicals, which brings great challenges to vegetable production and breeding. Breeding resistant varieties is one of the most economical and effective ways to resist the disease while disease resistance identification and screening is an important premise and guarantee of disease resistance breeding. The identification and screening of seedling resistance through artificial inoculation can select resistant germplasm, which facilitate parent selection, shorten the breeding process, and improve the efficiency of disease resistance breeding. In order to better understand the resistance of vegetables to phytophthora blight and high-efficient methods for the identification and screening of germplasm resources, the study summarized the research progress of vegetable disease resistance identification methods, deeply compared the resistance identification methods of main vegetables to blight diseases, pointed out the advantages and disadvantages of these methods and put forward corresponding countermeasures for the shortcomings, with a view to provide valuable theoretical and technical references for the breeding of disease-resistant vegetables against phytophthora blight.
