【Objective】The study was carried out to quantify the change and development trend of vegetable production layout and production area aggregation in various counties of Maoming Municipality.【Method】The degree of specialization and aggregation indexes were adopted to quantitatively analyze the concentration of vegetable production areas in various counties of Maoming Municipality from 1998 to 2018, and explore the change law of regional pattern of vegetable
production in Maoming Municipality. The aggregation degree of vegetable production areas in Maoming in different periods was measured to further analyze the characteristics of vegetable production areas distribution in different periods.【Result】The aggregation degree of sown area and yield of vegetable in Maoming was relatively higher than the overall level in Guangdong Province, which was mainly concentrated in the Dianbai District, Huazhou City, Gaozhou City, however, only yield per unit area of Gaozhou City was higher than the average of Maoming Municipality, while that of Dianbai District and Huazhou City was lower than the average in the whole city. Based on the analysis of specialization degree of various regions in Maoming through the output values, Maonan District with the smallest vegetable planting area had the highest specialization level, with its location quotient maintaining at about 2.0, far more than other regions in Maoming, about 2.5 times that of Xinyi City. The specialization degree of Dianbai District ranked the second. As major vegetable producing areas, Huazhou City of Gaozhou City had lower location quotient, with the relative specialization index less than 0.【Conclusion】Through the comprehensive analysis of the above indicators, it can be seen that the aggregation degree of the vegetable industry in Maoming is high and the specialization degree in some areas is not low, however, the specialization degree does not match with the aggregation degree. |
